GENERAL

High Performance Program

What's the difference between the High Performance Program and the Basketball Club?

There are two different options if you wish to play basketball with Sydney Uni:

High Performance Program

The High Performance (HP) program is an elite-level program designed for athletes wishing to represent Sydney Uni at the intercollegiate level. The HP squad is selected through trials that take place at the beginning of each calendar year.

Generally, the HP program only has about 15 athletes in each of the men's and women's programs, with many of them holding Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarships.

You can read all about the program structure and events that HP athletes compete in, by clicking here.

Sydney Uni Basketball Club

The club allows students to play on campus in a more friendly and social environment, with well over 100 members in 2022. There are no selections to join the club.

Becoming a Sydney Uni Basketball Club member (for $60) allows access to all things basketball on campus. Being a member will provide you with:

  • Access to 2x weekly scrimmages (Tuesdays/Thursdays)

  • Exclusive Apparel

  • Playing in lunchtime social basketball comps (including 3x3 and 5x5)

  • Social club events

You can learn more about playing on campus here.

I am an exchange student, can I play basketball ON CAMPUS?

The Sydney Uni Basketball club gladly welcomes all exchange students. Exchange students wishing to play basketball on campus can join the basketball club and attend all events.

I am new to basketball, where can I learn to play?

Learning a new sport can be a challenge, that’s why Sydney Uni Basketball created the ‘Beginner to Baller’ Program. Male and female students can learn the game (and all the fundamentals) under the guidance of UBL coaches in a friendly, fun and social environment! You can learn more about the 2022 program here.

Can I use the courts for casual shooting?

Yes, depending on availability you can use the courts at Sydney Uni Sports and Aquatic Centre (SUSAC) for casual shooting at a cost.

Students wishing to utilise the courts should call SUSAC on (02) 9351 4978 or book online if a member.

Sorry, we’re still working on this.
