Game 4 Report: USYD Men Win Series 3-1

The Inter-Varsity Basketball Series has ended in dramatic fashion, with both UTS and USYD claiming series wins.

The UTS women’s side wrapped up their series win with a 19-point triumph over USYD. Leading from start to finish, UTS were once again the stronger side, with familiar names such as Sherrie Calleia and Maddy Norris putting in dominant displays.

The undermanned USYD side fought hard all day, showing glimpses of potential that will ensure the program continues to improve heading into next year’s inaugural UBL competition. Annie Henderson (22 points), Katie Castle and Sarah Wacher were among USYD’s best.

The USYD men’s side clinched their 3-1 series win in OT following a big last quarter effort to erase a double-digit deficit.

Both Robbie Moore (41 points) and Olly Bowman (29 points) were once again the standout performers for USYD, with Moore hitting two 3’s in the final 2 minutes to send the game into OT.

Ben Fakira returned from injury and provided a solid anchor on the defensive end, while starters Liam Humphrey and Parker Dale also made strong contributions in the win.

The Southern Design Inter-Varsity MVPs will be announced early next week once coaches votes have been collated.
